About this …

Welcome! With so much going on in the world it is tough to stay connected, involved, and aware. Visiting blogs and web pages can be an informative choice and it can also take the edge off world events, if just for a few minutes. I hope an occasional deviation to this blog helps to smooth those edges in your day-to-day dealings with the world’s tribulations, thanks to all who visit.

I’m from NC, USA temporarily living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the contents of this blog are postings of the places, people, and food I have experienced thus far. I am not a professional blogger or writer so please excuse any type-o’s, dangling participle-somethings, and ramblings of mindless dribble. I try to post once a week so leave a comment if you like and I will get back.

Just recently i have moved back to NC USA and will be traveling this side of the world for a short bit until i return to SE Asia…

Enjoy,  Dave…

Hi Dave, I love the photos here. I wonder if I can have your permission to use any of them to write haiku on them as a photo haiku, with mention of your blog and a link back here?

Wonderful captures of life around the world. Thank you for showing me my native hometown, Taiwan. It has been over 35 years since I left… perhaps it’s time for a revisit. :)

    Hi Dave
Like the blog and you even use my theme. My wife and I are moving to Penang next spring; I was laid off last year and we’ve chosen early retirement overseas because working sucks and California is too expensive for anything. We’ve never been to Penang, only Borneo and we’re applying for an MM2H visa as soon as I turn age 50. Anyway, we’re scouring expat blogs, especially those of Americans and Canadians living in Malaysia hoping to make new friends and get ideas. My blog is new so I’m also trying to get readership. We’d love for you to check out our story on http://www.experimentalexpats.com and would be honored if you follow/share. And I love your photos BTW
    Thanks

      Rob Diane,
Thanks for the comments. I think you will find Penang very nice. There are not a lot of Americans in Malaysia, i have met a few but mostly Expats from UK, Australia, and S. Korea. Check out the Xpat groups in KL. They are very friendly and meet once a month. Thanks again. Dave…

Nice photos Dave! Like the stories that go along with the pictures, gives them more meaning. Since you’re doing more HDR, if you haven’t already, check out photomatix (http://www.hdrsoft.com/). Be nice to go out shooting with you again, if not in Malaysia then maybe when you get back to the states. Best to you, yours, and the all the people at the office, miss the late nights (I swear it’s the only time its not hot over there), driving on the wrong side of the road, and hijabs.

    Hi Dave,

Nice work. I found your blog because I am an urban explorer and will be visiting KL next week. I was wondering if you know if the abandoned building near Marriott is still there and if you can give me any more information on the location?

Also was curious what part of NC? I am from New Orleans, but I live in Bangkok.

    Thanks,

    Chris Ryan

Ryan, I believe the house is still there, it is on Jalan Utara near the Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom, on the same street. I’m in Durham NC now and won’t be back to KL until next year. Thanks for visiting my blog, i’ll check your’s out… Dave
