It’s Christmas in KL

It’s a freezing 87 degrees Fahrenheit and palm trees sway to the sounds of Bing Crosby singing Jingle Bells.  I think it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Maybe …

The Pavilion Mall all decked out.

Tomorrow is the Sultan’s birthday, the King of Malaysia, so we get a day off. It’s another holiday! He is a good king from what people tell me. This is his new palace.

This is the king and his wife.

Happy Bday king. At least once a week Ivan and I frequent a local Malaysian, Chinese restaurant near were we work and most often I get this one dish. Also pictured in the header above. Mee chicken, flour noodle in a chicken broth topped with chilies, fried shallots, fresh scallions, slices of chicken, and a couple of shrimp.

Even in the heat of winter this is always very good.

Also last week i was privileged to sample Laddu an Indian sweet normally bought for special occasions. Pronounced La-doo the ingredients can vary but the basic recipe is flour, nuts, sugar, and butter. One of our employees had a baby boy so he was handing these out like cigars. It was very good and the sweet texture fell apart quickly in your mouth. Do I look fat in these jeans?
